What does a person believe in?

What do they lean on in this life?

When they lay their head on the pillow,

Can they hold on to their conscience?

 

For those who can’t find a pillow to rest their head,

With walls for blankets,

As a person watched all that was happening,

Were they aware they were being watched, too?

Or was this wreckage theirs alone?

 

Hadn’t life designed everything in the finest detail?

What has been, what is, what will be…

What was lived, what is being lived, what will be lived…

All of it was so we could see the truth.

Shouldn’t we have seen where our faults lay and set them right?

 

Yet a human should be able to learn from what they live through…

Isn’t that what sets us above all creation?

If every act in life has a consequence,

When a person knows where and how to respond,

Aren’t they, in fact, the winner across time?

 

One may not be able to mend the whole world,

But they can start where their strength allows.

Amid endings, beginnings, and those who come and go,

They could be among those who pass their own test with success…
